Things to consider when relocating IT Equipment and Servers to new premises.
This has proven to be a very overwhelming task, a better approach has always been to let employees be part of this huge task to ease the process. When other managers and teams are busy preparing their items and assets for the move, IT team are not left behind.
We have jotted down a simple checklist to aid IT managers throughout the planning stage. A couple of things to consider before the big move, all items from the cold room (server room), users’ computers, network, printers etc
A couple of tasks to include on the plan, from confirming your current inventory of IT equipment, to doing computer backups before the big day of the move. It is during this time that you must figure out whether all computer equipment will move to the new office or not.
The IT team should ensure that other third party providers have surveyed the new office and have installed all connections and services including office communication systems, phones, network and internet services are up and running before the actual move date.
Below checklist will assist you to plan well and move fast without causing services interruptions, downtime to your users or clients. Some of this need to be organized and prepared for the move, some infrastructure need to be built at the new premises before the move, this like internet connectivity, phone lines, network cabling, cabinets etc,
